Richard Walker began in South Florida seven years ago where he created his first BLINDE collection by hand sculpting frames. In a crowded marketplace of often-indistinguishable sunglasses, his designs have a distinct edge. The difference is dimensional. Walker conceives of sunglasses as sculpture in the round, a 3D process, whereas the most common method is to sketch the frames flat on a piece of paper, strictly 2D.

In 1998, Richard Walker was given the opportunity to design the sunglasses for the principal characters in THE MATRIX, and the quintessential hero sunglass for Angelina Jolie in TOMB RAIDER. He returned to THE MATRIX as the sunglass designer for the sequel films THE MATRIX Reloaded and MATRIX Revolutions. Remaining true to the Blinde aesthetic, the company launched its first optical collection this year.
Walker's innovative approach to eyewear matches perfectly to Optical Shop of Aspen International's company philosophy of remaining true to quality and aesthetics while providing an eyewear product that fulfills its purpose of being both functional and stylish. Together, OSA International and Blinde are introducing 15 new frames in the beginning of 2006, and expect exponential growth from the Blinde brand.
